Opened at Le 1947 à Cheval Blanc. P&P and enjoyed over dinner.
Needed a bit of air to get going, and improved over the course of the meal, but I felt like this was in a slightly awkward phase of its development. An extremely well made wine, very clean and showing off the pedigree of the terroir and the vintage, but this still felt like it was holding something back. Maybe with a bit more time and air it will unwind more and show us its true beauty? The rich, buttery notes of well-made Chardonnay certainly needed some air and coaxing to come out. I also do think I preferred the '18 Les Champs Gain recently more.
That being said, still a beautiful white Burgundy and very enjoyable. A pleasure to share with G & M.

Citrus lemon rind, unriped peaches, stone fruit and lilies on the opening with plenty of tension and minerality but a little lean on the palate with good focus and precision. Lovely finish too with crisp acidity. This is very 14-like and while it will need more time to flesh out, this was drinking very nicely today.

first tried this cuvee 5+ years ago and liked it enough to hunt down some of the '15s before pricing went absurd. sadly those are gone; thus a pleasure to be able to share a last hurrah bottle with DRRJ. very mellow wine and a pleasure to drink - elements of caramel, hazelnut, and white flowers. exceptionally smooth.

Ultra mineral nose, yellow citrus, hint of matchstick... Very nice tension, ripe citrus, nice minerality.
