Pleasantly surprised by this wine. Some other notes had me concerned it would be an overly-concentrated fruit bomb, but it was quite nice and certainly a bargain at the $20 I paid. Decanted for quite a while: I opened at 10 am to drink at 5pm. Dark cherries with a woody, earthy undertone and a hint of alder smoke. Plenty of acid to keep it alive a while longer. It hadn’t started to develop the clay brick character I associate with older pinot. My only gripe is there was more alcohol burn than I’d expect from the 13.5% stated on the bottle. But it paired nicely with some leftover duck breast I had from lunch.

Similar review to 1/12/20 - just wished I'd re-read it because I didn't decant. Oh well, one thing for sure is that this has enough structure to last for several years. Perhaps a bit more acid than last time - but again, that could be lack of decant. After two hours, this reveals an intriguing depth of dark cherry fruit! 90-92

Cranberries and herbs. Somewhat structured on the palate. medium bodied with good mouthfeel. very slightly tart cherries and good acidity. particularly good food wine. seems to have the balance to age several more years. Wondering if a quick decant might have made this even better....?

Had a glass with friends over. Focused on the conversation, not what was in the glass. Soft, transparent, enjoyable but not a big thinker. Picked up recently for $20 and that was good value.
