  • served blind, pnp

N: pine needles, relatively closed at the beginning, wood, good fruit core (rather red fruits), leather, tobacco and a hints of animalistic aromas
there is not enough tension and intensity in the nose, we were a bit disappointed

better on the palate, but still a bit "off". good length, fresh, very good acidity
wet sweet wood, licorice, a bit of toffee
fruit rather on the background, again the animalistic touch
this should open up more with more time. decant at least 2 hours.

  • - no decanting, tasted in parallel with Close de Bèze 1997 by Raphet.
    - Nose: still rather closed, should be decanted. Mainly red fruit, candy floss and lots of aromas of pine forest, resin and caramel emerge.
    - Palate: In its present state, it is a little slender and not yet fully there. Shows with a feminine (medium) body and crisp freshness but is not quite round and complex. Shows some animal notes on the finish, opens up with time. More beautiful on the palate than on the nose.
    - Drunk again the following day with much more intensity and flavours of fruit compote, cedar and damp forest floor. Already quite matured on the second try.
    - The bottle should tend to be kept in the cellar, although it is unclear whether this Laticièreces still gets its act together. Maybe just not the best vintage...
