From 75cl screwcap. Thin-textured, linear, uncomplicated, bright redcurrant fruit with very high acidity (as devotees of the Kumeu Chardonnays like me would expect). Way overpriced at 33€ retail in Germany, think more like what 22€ might get you in the way of decent Maranges, Santenay or the like. Once the vines have matured in 5-10 years there might be great things ahead, but for this vintage, right now, 87-88P is the most I can offer.

Kumeu Area winery visits (Kumeu, Auckland, NZ): Pale ruby color. Aromatic, reductive ripe cherry - mid-range ripeness (ripe red, not black). Wet day in the forest - damp just-rained-on earth. Sweet-savory, but leading with fruit. On the palate, dry, medium bodied, 13.5% alcohol, high acid (very fresh), well-integrated flavors and a lovely finish with diminished tannins (tissue-y). Long finish.

Attractive cherry fruit, fresh and quite lean, quite old world in style.
