Same as my 3/23/11 note. Very nice wine. I will observe that the short drinking window advised on the site may not do justice to the wine's longevity. I hurried through this, and am now finishing the last bottle, in part based on fear it was past its prime. There is certainly no reason to wait, but I believe it has a few years left before it expires.

Clear, garnet color, with medium intensity. Clean nose, with medium intensity. Aroma characteristics include blackcurrant, plum, and other black fruits, green pepper, eucalyptus, oak. On the palate, dry, low acid, soft medium tannins, full body. Flavor characteristics match the nose, plus licorice and spice. Medium length. Good to very good merlot.

PAWineTalk.com Tasting Number 8 - Napa Cabs (blind): Tasted blind. Medium dark ruby in color. Nose of red and black fruit (bing cherries) and creamy vanilla. Mild in the mouth with more red and black fruit combined with some earthiness. Satisfying finish. Surprised to find it was a Merlot in a bland Napa Cab tasting.

Pittsburgh-Blind Napa Cabs (La Cucina Dolce): Tasted blind--oak on the nose, dark fruit mxed with oak on the inital attack with a touch of some burned tar. Strong flavor, great structure and acidity moving into a nice chocolate finish. I liked this wine and this was a Merlot snuck into a blind Napa Cab tasting. Rated in my top 3 of the night.
