  • {Grandi Langhe, 2017} A full 11 months since I last tasted it, and it's ever so slowly emerging from its youthful cloak. A serious wine, and a wine for those that have written off 2012 Barolo as a mediocre/less than mediocre vintage. That said, it's deeply in need of rest, the tannins are firm, the acids, very lively. I would think this will begin to show in its preferred zone in 4-5 more years, and then for another 15 years after that, at least. A tremendous accomplishment, and a true wine for keeping. highly recommended

  • Tasted at the cantina. A new wine for Pecchenino, this parcel of ~ 1 hecatare was previously farmed by just one man who had for years sold his grapes. That said, this is a serious wine, one with an intense, piercing nose of complex aromas. The tannins are too firm just now, and the palate too tight. A wine for keeping, let this rest at least a decade. By the final sip, some 30 minutes in, the wine is full-bodied, sensual, enveloping. A serious effort that fans of this producer and site will want in their cellar. highly recommended

    Coravin, served non-blind.
