  • Not a cuvée that I remember encountering before or since; I understand that it his now called Christie.
13% alcohol. The cork has minimal inscription, but it is long and of vg quality. Medium deep colour, not quite translucent.
The nose is aromatic in a classic red fruited Fleurie style; nothing in your face, but plenty of refinement here. Redcurrant in the mouth, which has vg balance and an endearing juicy quality.
A textbook Fleurie in perfect condition.
Comparing with the Mee Godard Morgon Grand Cras of the same vintage that I had yesterday, the present wine is perhaps less flattering but certainly much more aromatic and much more representative of the traditional Beaujolais style. I happen to like both, but they are clearly poles apart.

  • PNP. cork perfect. color garnet with a hint of purple edges. nose has ripe bright red fruits and a little pepper. swishing shows great fruit and mostly tannin structure that lingers on the finish. sipping shows more polish and more length than expected. blind would never have guessed this to be 4 years old. i like it tonight and if i had more would drink near term.

  • Nose - sweet red fruit. Raspberry. A bit sugary on nose. Medium plus intensity. I guess I would say it has an ice cream smell to it.

Palate - nicely balanced. Medium intensity. Medium body. Low tannins. Notes are ripe red fruit, bit of black pepper, tastes fresh, medium acidity, it pops in mouth. Tastes juicy. I don't get the sugary ice creamy feel on palate. It has a ice mix of sweet and sour.

Curious to see how this one develops.

  • Weekly tasting group RWP #231: Autumn wines (@ BS): red berry fruits in the bouquet, yoghurt, herbs and spices. On the palate unmistakably Gamay, a lot of ok acidity and just light tannin. Clean wine.

  • PNP. Cork perfect. Color garnet w purplish edges. Nose has deep black cherry blueberry w a peppery sappy tone. Swishing shows some acid but mostly stem/skin tannin that lead into the tannic finish. Sipping shows the fruit density, finish is short as expected. Good but likely better with some air or time.
Even better the second day. Give this one 6-12 months I think and revisit.
