The first glass from this 375 at 60 degrees was overly ripe and disappointing. The second glass at warmer temperature was excellent, competitive with aged Bordeaux. I would drink that second glass any time. Tons of sediment though.

Dark fruit. Very ripe. A lot of kirsch. A bit of heat. Good, but that is all. A bit disappointing, but probably exactly what should be expected of the vintage.

Deep garnet in color, this full-bodied Châteauneuf (a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault) continues to offer a core of dark bramble fruit that is supported by Provençal herbs, licorice, mulling spices, kirsch and stewed plums. Since last being tasted approximately five years ago, the tannins have softened but the alcohol (listed as 14.5%) is playing a bigger role. This is despite the fact that the wine, throughout decanting and three hours of sampling, was maintained at 60-65°F. Solid in the middle, it closes long but with a whiff of heat. This pristinely-cellared bottle is telling me that my previous projection as to its longevity was overly optimistic. While it will still be drinkable in 2025, this is going to be most enjoyable over the next couple of years. Drink now-2022.

Lovely garnet red. The nose is herbal and rich with dry fruit and forest notes. I can taste prunes and black cherries with chocolate and hints of licorice, oak and leather. Rich and full bodied. Chewy texture and great length. A touch of heat from the 14.5% alcohol but otherwise a fine and satisfying wine.
