  • The nice thing about this temporary WFH is having all to check in on wines like this and get the perfect decant. Opened in the morning and although a bit thin, was already in pretty good shape so left it open in the cellar. Around lunch I tasted and poured a small glass to give some more air contact. Then an hour before dinner decanted the whole bottle. This wine regained youthfulness over the course of the day and had typical Barolo nose and palate of roses, cherry red fruit, tar and a touch of leather. Tannins were integrated and finish was medium plus. Very enjoyable.
I had the bottle standing for one week before opening. Lots of sediment remaining at the bottom of the bottle—too much to filter out to get the last half glass, although it was not particularly bitter.
Update—small glass left on day 3 and still drinking nicely albeit a bit prunier

  • Al naso è carnoso e ricco anche se me lo aspettavo meglio, la bocca è un po' corta e tagliata

  • Nice gloss. No hard edges or austerity here, though the presence is still broad-shouldered. OK but nothing special.

  • Shwing well if on the far side of maturity. Plenty of anise, overripe, pruney, almost banyls like fruit. Complex on the palate, relatively short on the finish. Showed well the second night after being rubbe-stopped and put in the fridge. the wine seemed to take on structure rather than continue to show flab. Glad to see this, after several bad bottles of85 from this producer.
