There’s a surprising, and welcome, Old World funkiness here. Somewhat muted dark cherry aromas. Initial barnyard tastes balancing—not overwhelming—the fruit on the palate. As the wine sits in the glass, other savory and menthol tastes emerge.
Not the bright fruitiness from your average Oregon Pinot, and not for everyone. But I rather enjoyed it and am glad to see winemakers here going against the grain.
