  • A perennial underachiever. Garnacha-Mazuela (local name for Carignan) -Merlot blend, the problem here is the atypical addition of Merlot ( overproduction?) that is giving the wine a diluted and dull character and the standarised mass production. Most tatsters thought it was a new worldish budget wine. Lacks everything (were is the fine Carignan comming from limestone?) we like in other Priorats (Clos Mogador, Clos de l' Obac). Very cheap Priorat blended specially for grocery stores (Aldi) but no value at all.

  • Serious Priorat wine, a blend of Garnatxa, Samsó (Carinyena) and Merlot that was aged for twelve months in barriques. Very dark red color and a potent bouquet revealing scents of blackberry, cassis, toasted almonds and a touch of leather. The full-bodied palate is marked by concentrated black fruit, nuances of dark chocolate, a well-structured acidity and quite present tannins. Complex, spicy aftertaste. Needs an hour or more of decanting. Drinking window: now – 2020.

Complexe, kruidige afdronk. Minstens een uur op voorhand te decanteren. Optimaal drinkgenot: nu – 2020.
