We wanted to give this a try. Like so many 2005's, this is far from ready, and it presents as dense and dumb. Agree with Alex G.'s assessment on likely maturity.

Dark, brooding, supple with considerable density. This is a substantial wine that feels like it's not even half way through its evolution - peak around 2035-2037?

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 9/15/2017-9/16/2017 (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): Served double blind. Clearly ripe, very accessible, I thought it a great 1999 Vosne 1er. Powerful red fruit with subtle spice. Very long, very powerful, still slightly firm finish. Great already, with upside. Seemed to shut down after an hour+ in glass, with the structure I would expect from 2005s really coming to the forefront.

Dark color and a smell of spicy dark and red fruit compote, not stew like but really pretty mixed berry dessert with some cinnamon and five spice. Medium weight, long finish and well balanced. Kept improving in the glass. This wine is on its way to a nice place
