Color: ruby-purple, a bit troubled like many Medoc 2014. Remarkably complex nose for this regular Medoc, with good fruit (with plum and blackberry). The taste was like the nose, with a herbal note. Without the complexity of the nose. Medium bodied, with an OK acidty and a nice finish. At the fifth day with nice, lively fruit (black berry and blue berry), and less drying tannins. The tannins will further resolve in the next year(s) and hopefully integrate with the alcohol. This wine was already really attractive, but will probably develop into full maturity in one or two years. 88(-89)+.

Kept under condition 2 since september 2017 (see my profile). Color: dark ruby-purple, cloudy like all Medocs 2104 I have drunk so far. Nose: fruity with very fine sous-bois and a hint of herbs (sage?). Taste: sweet fruit (plum, blackberry and red berry), with a fine herbal as well as a very light animal note. Still some drying tannins, that were resolved at day four. Hard to describe why, but typical for Medoc 2014. Good acidity, attractively clear. Only the alcohol is with 13,5% a bit disturbing. Still a nice wine, like all Medoc 2014 I have tasted so far. To keep for half or one more year before the next bottle. 88(-89).

Tasting at Chateau Labadie, Medoc: Tasting at the chateau. Tasted right before the 2015 and a preliminary barrel-sample of the 2016. Already quite accessible. Softer and easier than the 2015, but with less character. The 2015 was more impressive. To drink now or to hold for another four or five years. 86-88+.

Cru Burgeois Bordeaux (Ripple - Washington, DC): Really digging these aromas of plums and wet earth and smoke and tobacco. Plush on the palate but great grip, fresh acidity. Black tea, charred earth, anise and campfire smoke on top of deep but tart plums. I’d love to see how this ages in three to six years. Merlot with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc.

Cigar box, spice, succulent blackberry nose. Rich and supple fruits with lingering oak. Soft velvety tannins. Really lovely, approachable wine.
