  • Guess it's about 10 years old. Boy is there a long way to go for this wine. Stuff's there. Fruit, tannin, acidity with a hint of sweetness. Didn't decant and rank straight from the bottle. If I had another bottle, would not approach for another 4-5 years. This wine has a lot of potential but who can wait 15 years.

  • Opened for a landmark birthday - had tasted with Chiara Boschis in 2013 for the prior landmark celebration and this harvest was just about to be underway. As to the wine - it lives up to expectation. The nose is powerful and assertive - can be smelled 18 inches away and is compelling. Spice, menthol, a bit of balsamic. And cherry lozenge, which always sounds so bad but it’s not. At least not here. Silky, sensuous mouth feel with flavors simply exploding. A virile, masculine wine, typical of this site but revved up in 2013. On opening yesterday, with a brief decant run through Venturi, the tannins were less prevalent. Today they clamp down quickly, but flavors still run around in the mouth and come and go through an unusually long and pleasant finish. Black cherry, pine, darkly-flavored red licorice. Seriously impressive - and this was the first of my 13’s and, based on day two tasting, very early in its life. But the wine is wonderful and it perfectly matched up to a sausage and fall vegetable risotto we made and enjoyed on a perfect fall evening in western Montana.

  • Overall a beautiful expression of Barolo maybe 3-5 years before maturity.

2h decant and drunk during 3hours. Initially a bit closed. Dark dried fruits, leather, silky but present tannins, very long finish with a little white pepper.

  • I refer to my review yesterday and note simply that this wine was even better on day 2. It is now more dense, better integrated and simply delightful, despite the rather potent, but fine, tannins.
