This started of in a really weird place. It was actually disliked by some members of our group, and I definitely felt that, given the Vietti price tag, it was very disappointing. However, I consumed the last 1/4 of the bottle the next night and found it significantly improved. So I’d recommend waiting on this one for a bit.

2013 Barolo tasting at 67PM: Built like a Bordeaux with the French oak being perceptible. Plenty of dark spices, black fruit, mocha notes, by far the most tannic of the wines today. Really didn't like this at the start but it did improve with air as the quality of the fruit shone through. Not my idea of Barolo but will appeal to fans of the style. Ranked 7/9.

Si la couleur est encore relativement sombre, le vin est au nez et en bouche clairement trop évolué pour le millésime. On lui aurait clairement donné 10 à 15 ans de plus. Un énorme surprise. La Sorì Ginestra 1994 bue le même soir était (très) nettement plus impressionnante...

This is what it’s all about. Orange rind, medium plus tannin. Still a good amount of oak on the nose and palate. Full and generous acidity.
