Such an intense and bright perfume of tar and red pedals, the classic Barolo approach. I also found raspberries, orange peel, mineral all wrapped in an intense, almost surgical offering. I think this is outstanding with plenty of future upside.

Quick sample at tasting over first 20 minutes after opening
bright red color with pale rim, nose of cherry and raspberry, hint of polish, dried tea leaves and herbs prominent at the edges, on the palate ripe cherry fruit, red berries with a bit of blueberry, strong mineral flows across the generous palate leading into a slightly dry finisih, good savory length, fragrant, I wish I had more time with this- but am even more grateful for the opportunity to try the wine given what has happened to prices and allocations over the years, from what I can see this is a bit more open-knit than usual and should therefore be accessible much sooner- perhaps 5-8 years? Either way, it is well balanced and not over-ripe, plus those wonderful mineral notes are all over- so this seems destined to be a mid-term Barolo with a bit more opulence than usual, yet retaining all its site-driven subtleties.

An incredible ~20 wines tasted with incredible knowledge transfer about Vietti (they are badass if you haven't had their wines)- wines, history, style, etc. No note, impressions only. Speed tasting.
Sour cherries, pomegranate, cranberry, softer, herbal, less fruit, round- not for me but other people should love this if their style. Unfair for me to rate as it’s high quality but I prefer more fruit in the primary stages.

Barolo and friends 2023; 9/8/2023-9/16/2023 (Le Langhe, Piedmont, Italy): Smoke, herbal and vegetal. Powerful but surprisingly pale. Interesting.
