Wonderful aged Chardonnay - not the over-the-top oaky butter bombs that mark(ed) CA for a couple of decades, but a refined and balanced complex chardonnay that gave much pleasure and evolved beautifully with just a little air.

Nicely put together chard of grand cru stature in my view...decanted at 3:30pm and drunk from 5-8pm. light to medium lemon yellow with no obvious oxidation.Nose is light but layered with lemon curd, crystalline minerals, butterscotch and honied walnuts. Great depth and texture in the mouth. Flavors reflect the nose with the addition of some with stone fruit and tropical fruits in the finish. Pleasant and crisp, yet long and voluptuous. beautiful, may stay at this level for some time but likely not better from 750 ml bottle. Provenance from the winery directly and my cellar.

I enjoyed this quite a bit, with an expansive palate of stone fruit, citrus and some toasty oak, although it also has some minerals and crushed rock tones for added interest; The lower acidity clearly distinguishes it from white burgundy, but that should be expected from California

Aging gracefully. Beautiful gold. Everything good about this wine. I remember visiting the winery and buying this. Great memories.
