This was part of our tasting flight when visiting the Hanzell Estate. Average vine age is 35 years. I loved it and it became part of the mixed case our group bought - to be consumed 2 nights later. It's a style that I really enjoy: lots of fruit, crisp acidity and a soft touch with the oak. 27% is barrel fermented and the rest fermented in stainless steel tanks, and the the barrel fermented component goes through Malo. It's aged in a combo of oak and stainless. I will note though: when I tasted it at Hanzell, the oak was very much in the background, but when we drank a bottle 2 nights later the oak was more pronounced. We did serve with food, as well (turkey burgers) I'm guessing the difference was air - the tasting bottle had probably been open for awhile. So if you own it, a decant would help stitch it together. Ideally this wine should see another 5 years in the cellar and could go 10+ years easily.

Neutral straw color. Very mellow on the nose. Slight citrus and oak. Stronger oak taste. Some citrus. Quick finish, doesn’t linger. Medium high acid, medium low sweetness. Medium alcohol.
