  • Decanted for 2 hours but should have waited longer as this stayed relatively tight throughout the consumption period. For the price, this was fantastic and a nice balance between elegance and power. Beautiful bouquet of red and dark cherries, cedar, leather, tobacco and spice. Firm tannins on the mid palate, juicy acidity and wonderful structure. Maybe slightly lacking in complexity. Please drink this with a proper meal paring as it screams for food. This probably has another 10 years to peak.

  • This continues to be very good stuff with plenty of air. The prevalent structure will let it age gracefully for 5 - 10 more years, and the tannins will likely soften over that stretch. There's a fair bit of bitterness and brackishness that seems unlikely to recede much; given how lovely the fruit is at the moment, for my tastes I think it'll be best over the next 2 - 3 years. Enjoyed a glass on its own, enjoyed it more paired with BdM-appropriate food.

  • Wines That Don't Suck at Ciao Bella: 3 hour decant, drank a medium-sized glass over 2 hours. Modern and fruity, with lively cherry and some vanilla. This drank young and was blown away by a 2007 Altesino reserva, but its clearly a quality wine that needs a few more years.

  • Craig Tasting - WTDS (Ciao Bella - Bloomington): This was paired with a 2007 Altesino BdM Riserva. IMO and for my palate, the 2007 outclassed this wine, at least today.

    Prep: 3 hour double decant.

Tasting note: This wine made a nice showing, but was clearly showing its youth, with high acidity that just begged for food. The wine was drinking quite nicely with some food to all the acidity in the wine and let the fruit and some secondary flavors shine. The fruit was predominantly cherry with some licorice and spice, hints of earth, almonds and tree bark were also present, but very much in the background. I have 3 bottles of this, and will not even think about opening one for at least another three years (probably closer to five). 93 with food, 91 without it....scoring this a 92 today.

  • Three hour double decant. Very deep ruby color, with the slightest hint of rim fade. Cherry pie and fig dominate the nose. Smooth, dry palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

Very nice Sangiovese, but not likely to get better for my palate. Thoroughly enjoyed tasting this.
