  • Second bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2010. When last tasted in January 2017, it was rich and powerful but quite closed. Almost five years later it is comfortably on its plateau of maturity, with a rich colour, a beautiful fruit expression on the nose (orchard fruits), a broad and ripe palate and marvellous salty, spicy minerality. Finishes a bit fuzzy. The underlying acidity is present - it will be interesting to see how this develops over the next 5-10 years.

  • For 08 it was a little bit fat and broad but nicely balanced with a lot of power. Yellow stone fruits and some nuts in the finish. Reaching his top. 92-93

  • The wine was dark gold in colour and offered apricot, orange, quince, beeswax, honey, cardamom and clove aromas on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed apricot, bruised apple, quince, beeswax, honey and clove, complemented by ethereal and salty mineral notes, with good acidity, a good, oily and slightly waxy mouthfeel and superb length. The medium- to full-bodied wine had good concentration. It benefited from extended aeration in a small decanter and got better and better, became balanced and gained complexity and length as time passed. It was more evolved than expected and a little tired, but still a very good Riesling with good complexity and concentration.
