Decanted & began drinking within 15 minutes. Still dry at this point. Poured wine back in bottle took to dinner. One hour later wine had softened up quite well. So much that I enjoyed with shrimp & grouper piccata.

Though from a half-bottle, this is still primary, and needs plenty of time after decanting: 1-2 hours. The flavors and palate are as described by others, but this is a bruiser, and needs more bottle age.

Pretty wine made sometime during the transition to the Chateau LaTour ownership.
Unfortunately demanded a much longer decant than I had anticipated, and never quite fully blossomed, but is showing the slightest tinges of age, with a subtle savory tomato, dried fig and mushroomy character eking through the initial graphite and cassis of the nose.
Could easily take another 5 years if not more.

Black cherry red and black licorice, Christmas spice and cedar provide a nicely medium-bodied richness; this had been open for 2 hours, which seems to be about right in terms of proper service. Offers a sense of ripe-ish deliciousness up front, with an even fuller and more “powerful” finish, especially when compared to the softer 2020 served alongside it. This 2014 comes off “fruity” at times, but the focus pushes it into a tighter lane with precision maintained. Length is notable. Drinking well now with some air.

Agree with others who’ve said you can taste the Calistoga. You can’t taste the Latour as you can in later Eisele vintages, however — I believe the 2014 was after their purchase but before they influenced the growing. Still, wonderfully smooth, with a wonderful balance of fruit. Very light tannin which is a nice surprise from a Napa Cab. 93.5.
