I am at a California cult wine tasting and this was one of the favorite wine of the evening ; surprise! After being open for 2 hours the nose full of oak and floral fruit bramble . The palate is black cherry , green peppe, tobacco , black coffee , black pepper and oak. A great wine from an adequate year , but it’s awesome

Dark plum in color, with a little rust around the edges. Red licorice, blackberries, black cherry, bits of Herbs de Provence, shoe polish, and a whiff of menthol. Medium bodied, with mid-range complexity, and vanishing silky tannin. Really quite nice, if a bit pedestrian for the vineyard. Good juice.

More Bordeaux-like than Napa when first opened, dark fruit, pencil lead, earth, and some oak. More fruit showed, interestingly, on the second day, when it actually had some layered complexity. Not the best showing for Araujo's second wine, but good. 88-90.

I am amazed at how well this wine has held up. No sign of being past its sell-by date.
