Exactly the same effect as in my TN from 2017: it didn't really come together until day 3, and so the rating pertains only to that. Recommended: pour a glass, maybe a second one on day 2, put the cork back on and consume the rest on day 3.

Private Comparison Of Four Off-Dry Rieslings By Alfred Merkelbach; 5/12/2017-5/19/2017 (At Home): 9.5 % abv. I had to repost this TN because the wine decidedly improved by day 3 when all its parts came together, lime and minerality came out more strongly from behind the grapefruit and the future potential announces itself. Initially the (now well integrated) subtle diesel stuck out and there was still some subtle residual CO2. Compared to the 2003 which I had just before this, the fruit is going towards quince and more strongly into grapefruit.

A Rieslingfeier of our Own; 2/13/2017-2/18/2017 (Traben-Trarbach, Germany): #14-16. This is an incredibly crisp and fresh Spätlese, again made in a slightly sweeter style, at least for the Merkelbach estate. There's some lemony acidity to this, and coupled with the slatey minerality on this wine, this makes for a very crisp, mineral-driven wine.

Bottled summer. Too young but very promising. Not too sweet. Better on day 2. Revisit in 5-10 years.
