Cork was soaked and damaged, but wine was intact. Consumed over 2 days, not much of a difference though. Fleshy moist plumps, petrol coming occasionally and going off, feather lightness, so delicate and likable, just not dealing well with fatty/creamy cheeses on night 1, you need to be careful with the food here, on night 2 enjoyed on its own after steak dinner - was OK, will get better food option next time.

Wow, how lovely this is, so much energy for the age, pure and clean, delightfull with that candied orange peels and elegant freshness, very good job from the brothers. 1/3 of the bottle left overnight, showing more grace with addition of baked apple.

New Year's Eve family get together. A touch of green in the shining gold glass. Grapefruit and golden delicious apple nose and grapefruit and apricot on the palate, both accompanied by a soft diesel note. Nice length which I assume could indicate an improvement on day 2. Not as impressive as my first bottle, but good nevertheless. Possible that I missed a second day appreciation because we destroyed the bottle in one go. Awesome for the price.

Oldest wine yet from this producer, wich has quickly become a favorite. Slight diesel, lemon, apple, pear and flower meadow on the nose. On the palate very fresh acidity, lightweight body and low to medium sweetness. More fruit but also lots of minerals. Feels amazingly youthfull, drinking like its from 2013 rather than 2003. Impressive, especially for a warm year like 2003. No problem with the cork on this bottle.

Original Note: 91 Just a tad less weight, funk and complexity and a bit more elegant than their 2003 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Spätlese which I therefore grant one up on this. Otherwise very similar, so please read my note over there. Qpr monster.

Private Comparison Of Four Off-Dry Rieslings By Alfred Merkelbach; 5/12/2017-5/19/2017 (At Home): 8 % abv.
Addendum after last glass: make that 90 instead. A bit too unprecise for more. I agree, also, that corks seem to be a consistent problem with the older vintages here, see the other wine linked to below.
