  • At first blush this reminds me of a nicely aged out Bordeaux. Lots and lots of pruney fruit, with some umami notes, funk, cedar and bramble. I like wine with more age than many folks, so take that into a consideration in my note. I’d drink this up now if you still have some, but there’s still some life in this if properly cellared.

  • This is better than what I remember at the offline a few weeks ago. Lovely nose that has deep umami notes. The palate does not live up to the nose -- the palate is more creamy red fruits, a bit of acidity that cuts through a little bit, but still seems a bit disjointed. I really love the nose, but the palate is not following (though there are hints of it). Does this mean it should age longer? I have two left, so will hold off and experiment -- but I am not optimistic that this will move up to the next level.

  • Brought to offline with McLancy. This seemed over the hill, very pruney and somewhat flat. A hit of that chocolate milkshake that I don't like in these wines sometimes. Pleasant enough, but not worth much praise.

  • Very tasty wine. Soft with nicely integrated components. Med nose and med long finish. Great with savory meatloaf but would also be nice by itself. Nicely matured but has more years to go.

  • Still a bit of blueberry, but more complex and subtle than the last bottle. Still a bit of bitterness on the attack, but there is a good deal going on here, and it feels like there is more laying underneath. I am starting to see why some rave about Christophe's bordeaux blends -- this seems to have the stuff for a long and interesting life.
