I think the review from '06 may have given up on this early, or maybe just had a bad bottle. This was a very typical (and by typical I mean darn good) Camaspelo. I little lighter on the Cayuse funk, but plenty of dark fruit, a beautiful long finish... my only complaint might be that the nose was lacking compared to other Cayuse's I've had. Wish I had more of this-- it's drinking really well right now.

I love Cayuse. In fact, I think Christophe is making the best Syrah's in the US and maybe some of the best in the new world. My company has been distributing Cayuse in PA since around 2001 and his wines, specifically in the last three years just go from strength to strength. Having said all of that, this wine is just mediocre. I think this is pre-production and was bought in juice, but I am not sure.
There is nothing wrong with this wine. It is just not exciting and not much is going on, at all. Drink ASAP. This bottle ended up marinating a roast.
