Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 93.8 points

  • Deep opaque eggplant color. 1 hour decant and improving with more airtime as we drink. Pretty awesome wine. Nose and taste of blackberries, cedar and cigar box. Great balance of acidity and tannins with a nice dry finish. Full bodied goodness. Really nice. About 94 to 95. Will look for more.

  • Good concentration and mountain fruit flair. This benefitted from a longer decant. I gave it 5 hours in the cellar prior to serving.

Strong blackberry and currant flavors with an undercurrent of herbs - maybe marjoram with that slight bitter edge - and healthy tannins. We consumed this over a few hours, and it was more round and the tannins felt more integrated on the last glass. Consequently, I think this bottle will probably improve by a point or so with another two years in the cellar. I expect it will last through 2033.

  • After 30 min decanting was still tied, we revisited it one hour later and it was singing. Very nice wine, complex and rewarding finish.

    Solid wine and good value.

  • This rich and layered Cabernet is a bit primary right now, but its power and integration are something to behold. This has the roundness of the valley floor, with the freshness of Howell Mountain. To reach for an analogy, it's like watching a breakout game of a talented freshman basketball player: it's a little raw, but the potential is clearly there - and it's fun to watch it all develop.

Dark purple in color and full in body, the wine draws you in with captivating aromas of blueberry, black licorice, rosemary, and warm gravel. The fruit here is incredibly layered, with notes of black cherry, boysenberry, ripe blueberry, and plum, followed by lovely supporting notes of dark chocolate, graphite, and anise, with an integrated finish that carries plenty of tannins (some a little chewy) but has enough sweetness to glide through the mouth. Blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 14.9% alcohol. 94+ for now, with upside in a year or more.
