January 2024 Northern Rhone Dinner: Another wine I was surprised I liked so much. Energetic, light footed, and airy, perhaps with a touch of honey and richness, but this is really all about its lively palate presence. Great stuff.

A tinge of orange color creeping in, lightly roasted nuts and a little dried hay on the nose, then lovely round fruit, some of the cashew/almond nuttiness, rich and mouth coating, a waxy note, moderate but adequate acidity, some lightly chalky minerality. A delicious rendering of one of my favorite California whites.

The best Peay R/M in some time, the aromas reminiscent of a burg being stony, almost flinty, with umami honeysuckle and a lemon tart more crusty than lemony following on the palate. These really deserve 5 years in the bottle.
