  • Lunch at SSG. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, very pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of flower petal inflected earth, red cherry, red pomegranate, slight Vosne spice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, balanced high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), soft silky medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet savoury earth, nicely ripe red cherries, red pomegranate, licorice, sweet spices. Long finish.
Very good quality. Was guessing it as an elegant maker 2015 Vosne 1er. Drinking in a good zone already.

  • A bit more than 4 years since my last bottle and cannot really confirm the excitement of the earlier note. Pnp and drank over 2h or so. A bit of wood spices on the nose. Soft and round on the palate. Red fruit, whole clusters, earthy notes. Fine tannnins, indeed a bit of bitterness on the mid palate. Lacks delineation. Short to medium finish. Disappointing for a top VR plot in 2015.

  • As per my note on 2020-08-03 this wine is drinking well. This is more fruit forward now with a good tannic spine. Great sweetness with ample dark fruit flavours primarily of dark cherries. Tannins are a bit bitter on the back of the palate. Moderate length . Just a pleasure to drink now and will age well. Underrated

  • Cf. the CellarTracker Article link [lower lft] to get specific info for this vintage, including acclaim.

≈20 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then closed; No visible sediment; Private Preserve after Day 1

N: Closed; Iron, earth, with cherries & spice coming forward with air

P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly transitions into a very LONG, BALANCED, ult quite pleasant finish with an almost flirtatious bitter/swtness to the minimal, very, VERY fine tannins. Worked with 2 variants of Pizza/Marinara, though not an ideal match. (I was looking ahead to Day 2's projected entrée.)

// Day 2: ≈aromas + added hints of choc with the spice of Day 1; VERY ≈ P, but Day 1's tightness has lessened, with this elegantly substantial wine nicely accompanying tonight's COSTCO's Roasted Chx & Mashed Potatoes.

// ∑: 13.5% ABV; My EXC (92,93/100 using that metric), EXC+ certainly a possibility down the line as this is likely a couple of yrs away from peaking, then drinking through '27, if not longer.

    Note: First tasted on 11/25/17

  • Black fruits, cherries, raspberries; opened up nicely over the night. Drinking well now but give it some air.
