LdC Northern Vosne Romanee 1ers - Brulee vs. Beaux Monts (Sepia): This must have been a lesser bottle than the last one I had. Full soft red color. Odd sour sous bois red fruit nose. Nice sweet red cherry palate with some sourness and cumin clove notes. Fell apart pretty quickly in the glass unfortunately.

Lean, stinky, and maderized.

Vosne-Romanee Showdown: Brulees vs. Beaux Monts (Sepia - Chicago IL): Possibly slightly corked. Muted fruit, very lean, showcasing only tannin and acidty. Of course, that could also just be the problem with some troublesome 1988s.

Delicious rich, aged Burgundy. Rich, complex, and nice animal.
