Beautiful and intense bouquet with dark forest fruits, chocolate and beautiful rustic flavors. On the palate concentrated dark berries, licorice, chocolate, water based children paint/ink, a beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness and perfectly ripe tannin. This wine is really lovely and great and at its peak now and the next few years.

Gorgeous wine that shows some age but doesn't seem over the hill in any way. Balanced, sweet, complex, long finish. Could have been a bordeaux with age, I was surprised how it had no big new oak or stewed characteristics. Next bottle can go soon, but no great hurry.

10/8/2017 - VDLT Wine Does not like this wine:
Gary & Cindy's 2017 blind dinner (Palm Court at the Carltun - Wine Cellar): While I am learning to enjoy Napa Cabernets, these big Riberas I have not been able to enjoy. Even this one with some age.

Takes a little for it to open up and for the oakiness to take a backseat to the fruit.

So badly corked I could smell it BEFORE opening the bottle.
