  • Consumed last Dec.. As others noted, this had somewhat deeper, darker fruit; but with enough acidity to pull it off. Great value for $20. But I had liked the 2013s of this Bourgogne (consumed in 2020) way more. 2013s had seemed lighter on their feet, with savory sous bois. While this may had been vintage, (and age) coming through, I think it is partly also that Heresztyn is still experimenting with the personality of his wines.

  • darker fruits and spice up front with some nice iron minerality framing it. hints of some forest and gamey notes. fruit is a touch less ripe on the palate with nice acid and touch of fine tannin on the finish. good for its level and a very good qpr @$20. ready to drink and enjoy now

  • C Chen covered it well. "If you're a fan of the style." This is pretty heavy and extracted for a bourgogne. I liked it but it's a heavier more masculine style of pinot which at some point isn't my thing. I buy burgundy to be light on it's feet and somehow this wine didn't achieve that. That being said, I did enjoy it for what it was and don't feel at all disappointed for having bought it.

  • Drank with Lily.

Surprised to see a synthetic cork, a la Ponsot (see attached photo). Heresztyn-Mazzini so hip.

For $25, this is about as good a value as you can get for a Bourgogne. It’s deeper than you’d expect for Burgundy. While it was clearly a step above domestic Pinots, it reminded me more of a Beaujolais. Great with pizza, I’d imagine.

This has a lovely nose and is much simpler on the palate. Moderate finish, as well.

Nice to get a Burg for $25, but unless you’re a fan of this style (a deeper, Bojo like Pinot), it still may not be your cup of tea. Good value wine though, for sure!

  • Brilliant ruby. Bright, with a touch of earth; surprisingly deep, with good concentration. Dark and red fruit. A touch of white pepper. Wow, this was very impressive for its level. Consistent notes, with some development over three nights.
