As with their Saint Veran, Leflaive really impress with their Maconnais bottlings. In this case, golden apple, baking spices, savouriness, and vanillin richness oats the order of the day, with great concentration and balance. At some point I will have to bite the bullet and invest in some of their offerings from grander appellations

"Great wine. Mild caramel nose. Mid strength yellow colour. Honey background. Great rich Chardonnay with light acidic aftertaste. Some light mineral coming through but more of the yellow stone fruit flavours getting my attention. Beautiful wine. Now 7 years old will last another 20! Had with some poached Hapuka fillets. "

Very elegant. Nose is passion fruit and a touch of toasted peach cobbler. There is clearly a lot of lees ageing, but it is very well integrated with the fruit. Don’t look for intense fruit here, but the wine is beautiful.

Pale/straw yellow, taut acidity, crisp finish, fine length. This is good.
