  • Way too long in the tooth. Sappy.

  • 11/16 Tricky wine. Day 1 (80pts): Pretty flat on the palate. No tannic, more alcohol. Very simple and with little structure. Balanced but I think that's because there isn't whole lot to balance. Mostly cherry with a little rose petal before tailing off quickly. There are much better Rosso's out there at the same price. 11/18 (87pts)--I gave this wine some runway for 3 days. I "accidentally" left it open over night after I opened it with the results above. This thing definitely needed some air. Acidity smoothed out and was very balanced mid palate--it still came on a little weak initally but what a difference a day makes. What was tight when first opened was now coming through with soft roses and a smooth finish. Not quite as much punch as I like but it went over well with the wife. Mostly light red fruit, the dark berries again give it a little balance. On the third day it was at it's prime and just starting to go away. Very few wines last 3 days for me--this one did--even after a full night without a cork. If you're buying to drink now--double decant and let it sit for 2 hrs before your guests arrive---or stick in your cellar for 2-5 years.

  • There are better '04 Rosso's out there for the money, even at $16. Still, not bad and a better bargain than many Chianti Classicos out there.
