  • Past its prime, drinkable but strange.

  • not my kind of wine, half way between a sweet dessert wine and a ckassic vedicchio. I was expecting something more

  • An enjoyable change from the most common white wines, the Verdicchio is a luminescent gold, really lovely, with a striking nose of basswood honey, ripe pineapple, and other tropical fruits. Surprisingly dry after that sweet nose (it had me expecting a Sauternes), the palate is actually firmly tart, with quince or apple flavors, and a long finish. Quite an unexpected wine in good ways, but not for everyday drinking. I would pair this with a rich pate, a blue cheese, or perhaps with Thai or Vietnamese or even Burmese curry... something with a coconut milk sauce, perhaps. It would be a fantastic match. In fact with the right food, Ian’s 94 pt score would make a lot of sense.

  • The nose was pleasantly sweet with notes of ripe mango, mint, baked apple, sage and almond. On the palate I found oily textures yet lighter than you’d expect, displaying savory, saline notes, bracing minerality and young peach. The finish was medium in length with lingering apple, citrus and saline-mineral tones.
