Opened to accompany pan-roasted venison loin. The wine was open and quite lovely, with red cherry fruit and a hint of meatiness. There was just a bit of tannic roughness to the finish, which was easily offset by the meat. Medium body with fresh acidity, this wine has a few years left ahead of it, but likely won't get any more appealing (to me, at least) than it is today.

Fine wine... Immediate hit of a certain Italian rusticity (read brett), but also immediately followed by those Nebbiolo roses. Structure is lovely with a sense of fruit, cleansing acid, and soft tannin. Drink with food, enjoy the complexities.

low depth of color, reddish rim. on the nose pretty classic nebbiolo… red fruits, rose, chestnut spice… some tertiary mushroom aromas. on the palate extremely high acidity, firm mid palate, moderate amount of firm tannins… moderate alcohol. wine is firm on the balance scale, good length, very good intensity, very good complexity. Great QPR in the low 20’s… this does need an hour or so decant and should hold well over the next few years though i think it’s pretty close to its peak now.
