Oops, I did it again! I pulled both of these bottles for Easter when PMB was home for a dinner of crabcakes and then pulled them both again for Christmas dinner of ... crabcakes hile PMB was home! No real notes since the wines haven’t changed much. The difference between the wines was remarkable with the Bourgeois being much darker in color than the T-:L Buster. Phoebe preferred the Bourgeois to the T-L Buster. The mouthfeel of the two are quite different with Bourgeois being much lighter than the T-L Buster.

Nose of lime. Grapefruit on the palate and a nice finish of wet stone. Decent bottle for the money. Better after it was open for an hour. Could stand a little longer in the cellar.

Henri Bourgeois La Cote des Monts Damnes Sancerre Loire 2016
The color of yellow moon in the glass. ... captivating... gooseberry, white grapefruit, creamed corn, lymon, wet stones and flint. Bright, crisp and very clean. Basil wrapped stones on the finish.“ While it’s a stunning Sancerre, it’s edged out by the Buster. 13% alc. With crab cakes while Phoebe PMB is home for Easter. 04/20/19. Recommended.
Thomas-Labaille ”Cuvee Buster“ Les Mont Damnes Chavignol 2015
This is the first of my 2015 stash of Buster, but what I’ve said before of the ‘01 vintage hold true now: ”Bright yellow gold color. Wonderful nose of Sauvignon Blanc. Loads of flinty mineral along with smoke, lime, boxwood and fresh mowed grass. Crisp on the attack and clean on the finish. Loads more flint, mineral and smoke on the attack that carries through to the midpalate. Creamed corn and toast on the finish. Balanced with just the right acidity.“ This is why we look for Chavignol. 13% alc. With crab cakes while Phoebe PMB is home for Easter. 04/20/19. Recommended.

Unlike the 2015, which was brilliant on release, this one is nearly unapproachable for the first hour and still reticent thereafter. Maybe some fruit will emerge to balance it out in a year or so. Judgment reserved.
