I brought this to a dinner for my wine group, at a Mediterranean restaurant. MY WOTN, for the rest of the group it was 2nd, behind the Spanish Tempranillo AAlto. I had the current vintage of this wine, at the winery this past summer, and I'm glad I was able to wait on this bottle, because at this stage, it is drinking really well. Medium+ length finish, a beautiful nose, not quite full bodied. Dark fruit on the palate and nicely balanced tannins.

I've had this one across several vintages, some more age-worthy than others. I'd say this is ready and will not get ready. In fact, maybe it's lost a step. That being said, STILL a lovely wine. More loamy earth than I'm used to, in a good way, red fruit all integrated with the oak giving it some nice cedar notes. Great wine.

Decanted for 3 hours. Wine really opened up as the night went on. It f you are a Dunn fan, this wine is a must. It was only $60, which makes it even better. The fruit is subtle and elegant. I like that it’s not overwhelming fruit. Glad I have another bottle to try in a couple of years.

After a one hour decant, still plenty of fine, bold, tannic structure. Prune juice, intense leather, menthol, black cherry, raw blackberry pipe tobacco. 15+ years left on this one.

(Long Shadows Feather Cabernet Sauvignon) Hello friends. One of the best parts of our burgeoning wine scene is getting to watch wineries find their place. In almost 15 years of business, Long Shadows has settled into its home as a premium standout amongst the ranks—a leader in the movement that is Washington wine. Hitting a decade and a half is no easy feat for any business, and what’s most impressive is that Long Shadows continues to be relevant. And not just relevant—highly desireable, sell-out before release, rippin’ through vintages relevant. Now, they’ve moved largely to a pre-sell model for the Seattle market. Today, we have access to one of the winery’s most treasured offerings, one that will likely be sold out before its official release date. That bottle will be the main thrust of this offer, with two bonus wines at the end. Most of Washington’s purveyors of wine wait in anticipation every fall for certain releases. When it comes to Feather, we know it’s going to be released, but we just don’t know exactly when until we receive the e-mail from Long Shadows’ local representatives: It is with great excitement that we announce the release of 2015 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon! This beautiful 100% Cabernet Sauvignon by Randy Dunn has long been the crown jewel of the Long Shadows portfolio. Sourced from some of the most famous vineyards in Washington, The Benches, Dionysus, and Pepper Bridge, Feather truly celebrates the greatness of Washington state Cabernet Sauvignon. Now in its 13th release, the demand for this wine continues to be far greater than supply. Therefore, we ask that you please send us your MAXIMUM ALLOCATION REQUEST no later than Friday, December 1, and we will allocate accordingly. As you can see, Long Shadows is not messing around when it comes to allocations. We will be submitting our request tomorrow, December 1st, so please try to get your orders in before then. We will try to build in some wiggle room with extra bottles, but just in case, please order accordingly. Because of the quick turnaround, we won’t be able to provide tasting notes, but at this point, the pedigree and year-after-year consistency of the project speaks for itself. The outstanding Randy Dunn of Dunn Vineyards (Howell Mountain, Napa Valley) makes this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon for Long Shadows. It comes from The Benches at Wallula (Horse Heaven Hills), old-block Dionysus, and Pepper Bridge in the Walla Walla Valley. It consistently shows as an ethereal expression of Cabernet, a balance between dark fruit, silky tannins, and a true sense of polish. It has received fabulous reviews over the years from a broad range of critics. Paul Gregutt, Stephen Tanzer, Jeb Dunnuck (including a 95pt review for the 2012); all have heaped praise on Feather.
