  Colour: light cherry red
  Nose: cranberry, strawberry, pomegranate . Charred oak. Cigar box, nightshade leaf
  Palate: strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate. Tobacco leaf, nightshade leaf, cigar box. Dried hay, grassy. Fresh berry-like acidity, lithe and fresh, mild fine grained tannins. Lacks the complexity you'd expect for a Cru Beaujolais.
  EDIT: left open for about a fortnight, the wine has esterified and become, if anything, more complex. There's some caramel, vanilla, and oaky character on the nose, along with strawberry and cranberry. The palate is still very fresh and linear, with cranberry and strawberry, some drying tannins, and plenty of fresh, linear acidity. Interesting. Not sure what this says about the wine's potential to age.

  Dusty fruit, mostly raspberry, blackberry and blueberry, with some coffee notes. Juicy and fun, not complex.
