Mmmm, so beautiful. Edgy, Franc, tobacco, bell pepper, the prototypical Chinon nose. The palate is an utter contrast, warm, baked, easy red fruit. Fairly soft, mature, utterly resolved. But oh the nose!!!

Calling an Audible (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN): Medium dark red minus color. PNP, drank a glass over 90 minutes plus next to the '90 Clos de l'Echo. This was in nice shape too. Really earthy, scorched earth, dark cherry, and mineral notes on the nose. The palate is soft and expressive; cherry, black cherry, metallic, scorched earth, well integrated. Very similar to the Echo, and I give a subtle edge to the Echo. 91+ to 92pts.

Brought by Jay. Decanted off sediment for 1h then back into bottle. Now 5h after decant. Drinking well earlier but now showing mild but clear wet cardboard. Bummer.

Stood up for 2 days then decanted off sediment. Now 2h after decant. Lovely aromas of dried red cherries, currants, cassis, leather, green tobacco, a bit of green pepper, herbs, and medicinal bark. Palate w dried red cherries, pomegranate, cassis, leather, bark, green tobacco and a bit of a green pepper and earth. Nice moderately long elegant finish. Faint tannins w excellent acids on a medium frame. Complex and elegant. Drinks closer to a Bordeaux than typical Chinon. Certainly at peak and can hold for some more years certainly. No rush to open last bottle. Lovely. 93+

Dark stone fruit, plum, bell pepper, salt cured olive, and some ash on the nose. Medium bodied, with for the most part resolved tannins. Excellent balance and depth with unadulterated fruit. Quite long on the back end. Not a blockbuster, but honest, very well made lovely mature Chinon, and a terrific value to boot. Drinking at peak for me with time in hand.
