  • Disclaimer: I have a soft spot in my heart for Terre Rouge.

Noting this, this wine is solidly within their chosen territory -- a Rhone style wine made in California. Distinctive Rhone flavors (more Northern than Southern Rhone). Nicely balanced. Tannins well in check (if they were ever there). No drama here, just a decent bottle. Well worth the $12 I paid for it.

  • Popped and poured. This wine is a rhone-inspired blend of 70% mourvedre, 19% syrah, and 11% grenache. In the glass, this wine exhibited a dark ruby color with aromas of raspberries, blackberries and cherries with hints of spice. On the palate, flavors of black raspberries and cherries led to hints of oak, gamey-ness and smoke. Nice, smooth wine with some degree of complexity but uninspiring. HS88

  • Very nice, yet simple wine. Everything you could hope for in a wine that costs around $12. Tastes a lot like a wine from Bandol with good balance and finishing with earthy fruit.
