Last of a quartet. Albarossa is rarely produced and there's not much about this that speaks of Piemonte. At all. But, this remains a delicious weeknight option well worth the $15 I paid.

Definitely more fruit forward than a typical young Piedmont wine but the bright acidity is present. Built for early drinking but this is a quality wine. Bigger than a Barbera or Dolcetto but not as ambitious as a Barbaresco or a Barolo. Drink now or hold for up to five years.

We served this wine as the fifth in a flight of ten Italian wines at dinner. The wine tasted like a well-made St.-Julien, and I suspect it would have fooled many a Bordeaux fan if tasted blind. It's quite approachable now, but has the structure to last for many years yet. Excellent QPR @ $15 from WTSO; worth a bulk repurchase.
You could stick a "Bordeaux" label on this and sell it for $75 easily.

Just opened my last bottle. Still as tasty as I remember. Hope to snag some more recent examples if I find them ...

Needed 30 mins to open. Solid structure and fruit friendly initially then greater complexity with brush notes. Drink up.
