  • Paired with a scallop/caviar dish with a lemon, vanilla, buttercream sauce. Great match as this wine was well, quiet. On its own, it was quite enjoyable, very subtle flavours but with complexity and acidity. Surprisingly lighter golden colour. Took some time to open in the glass though even when it did it seemed like it had more to give. My glass sat for almost 1.5 hours while I cooked and it stayed the same throughout.

  • 12% alcohol.

Pale straw yellow color with subtle lime-green highlights. The nose feels developed and slightly stuffy with aromas of wizened apples, some vegetal notes of rutabaga or parsnip, light funky notes of Morbier cheese, a hint of smoke and a touch of beeswax. The wine is full-bodied, juicy and oily on the palate with flavors of golden apples, honeydew melon, some ripe citrus fruit tones, a little bit of steely minerality, light developed notes of creaminess and even some creamy cheese, a hint of almond paste and a touch of cooked cabbage. The overall feel is rather soft with quite modest, medium acidity. The age has concentrated the fruit flavors, lending a touch of subtle honeyed sweetness to the taste. The finish is round, juicy and fruity with flavors of ripe yellow stone fruits, some developed notes of cooked cream and nuttiness, light mineral notes of sweet and wet stones, a hint of fresh white peach and a touch of tangy saline minerality.

A developed, round and rich Muscadet that would be quite unrecognizable for the style if I had tasted this wine blind: the wine lacks the piercing acidity, light body and brightness I associate with a classic Muscadet. This wine, on the other hand, is rich, round and full-bodied with lots of sweet-toned, developed fruit. Nevertheless, it's a fine and nicely developed white wine on its own. Perhaps there's a slightly stuffy edge to the aromas that slightly detract from the pleasure, but this is a pretty pleasant and enjoyable wine all the same.
