Community Tasting Notes (9) Median Score: 90 points

  • Notes from second day open. This opened up a bit and improved on the second day. Youthful in appearance with very little bricking. Thinner than normal cork which disintegrated into pieces immediately. Mainly blackfruits in the moderate nose but also some plums and a hint of mint. Full bodied with healthy but ripe tannins still, again mainly blackfruits, but the shiraz in the blend does give it some plushness and redfruits in the mid palate; a tobacco and cedary, oaky note is certainly still there. A prickle of added acid too perhaps? Definitely ready now, but should last a little while yet (A-).

  • Both corks were dried out and broke in half while being pulled. Wine was OK but tasted like it was just past its prime. Not off but tired. I would drink this wine now.

  • Lovely blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, coupling typical blackcurrant with berries and plums, mint and savoury spice. There's fine tannins on the palate, with a little tartness and long spice driven finish. Good drinking.

  • Auction purchase. My last bottle, better than the previous one consumed last year. Cork was a bit cumbly but had done its job.
Still quite structured & tannic, acid rode a bit high.
    Classic Coonawarra cab characteristics.
Probably should have left alone for another 5 years or more, seemed as though it could have developed further.

  • - Medium forming legs. It's somewhat balanced with a medium/full body. Coarse texture with a long finish - Nice example of an Australian cab sav / Shiraz blend. Beautiful nose. Felt it was a little rough, will let the rest of the 03 age a bit longer.
