2016 vintage. Typical green bell pepper nose. Red fruits and blackcurrant leaf. Has an earthy leafy touch. Palate has a nice balance between acidity and tannins. Ripe red fruits. Medium length. Nice wine.

Teeny tiny crop in 2016. Big ripe nose does not preclude typical Cab Franc notes of dark leafy greens, wet tobacco and graphite, nor does it get in the way of an airy and ethereal quality. Blueberry and blackberry, plus touches of cassis and strawberry... lots of rich ripe fruit, perhaps more than expected for a cooler vintage of Loire Cab Franc. Blue and purple floral tones, licorice and vanilla are lifted and pure, in gorgeous contrast to the dark core of fruit and vegetation that dominates this wine's character. Super classic, if a bit riper than expected. Silky and subtly bitter on the palate. Not the least bit heavy, acid keeps it lively and light on its feet, finishing very dry, refreshing and rather crisp... the finish is not particularly long but maybe that will take time, as it should develop for many years (10+). Lovely and easy if you like this sort of thing. Might be a little too vegetal and tart for some, but for me it is superb.

Right in its drinking window, too bad it’s my last bottle.

Perfect drinking window now. Green pepper and deep notes of black currant. Great wine from a tough vintage, only 7000 bottles produced.
