I find it interesting that professional reviewers rate this from 95 to a high of 97. Then there's all these CT reviews that are 92. I rely on both inputs, but I have to say that different standards must be in play. Personally, I love Grenache and Chaupin is 100% old vine grenache. I'm just not sure what's not to like here. I gave this a 3 hour decant, and that made the tannins silken. Just a hint of sour cherry on the finish kept me from giving this a higher score. For fun, look at other CT reviews for other highly rated Chatauneufs. You'll see the exact same curious dicotomy.

More funk than expected, bordering on Pegau. Brambles and garrigue mix with sour cherries. PnP at cellar temp with no significant change over 90 minutes.

I really like the 2016 CdP vintage, this my 3rd different 2016 CdP. Excellent producer. I was pleasantly surprised with myself when I drank it and suspected it was a 100% Grenache, which it is. More fruit prominent and less brambly than other CdP's I've had. Very elegant and well structured, palate of juicy ripe red raspberry, earthy notes, licorice.
You cab see why the Chateauneuf GSM recipe is so successful, all the components compliment and reinforce each other. This one is a lovely medium weight example that is a pleasure to drink.
