Deeply coloured, tawny rim. Sweet fragrant florals, red and black berries, incredible richness, iron filings, tar, soy, plums. Dark berries, dark spices, pepper, brambly, earthy, fruit compote, fruitcake, beautiful smooth rich flavours. Velvety texture, a long palate, strong but smooth furry tannins and vibrant acidity.

Decanted and served. Nicol who tried this blind picked it as a mid 2000s modern Barolo. Dark cherry, light tar. Not aging that well to be honest and this would have been a lot better 3-4 years ago we feel. A touch of dry tannin on the finish spoils an otherwise good performance. Light touch of liquorice. Solid wine but not great. 90-91

Requires a bit of decanting here to shed bit that sweet oaky note that hovers post opening. Post that its really a beautiful albeit not mesmerizing bottle. Quite a bit of herby nose, menthol, licorice and light under tone of tar. Well round and well evolved on the palate, light earthy feel at times. A shame the oak used here was a bit too much and maybe even overripe grapes. We think the modernist side of this wine that made it so impressive young its really impacting longevity and evolution. Maybe better one drinks sooner than later. 91-92

Powerfull and tannin-rich with sweet tobacco, mushroom (porcini) and dark red fruits. Long life ahead but drinks nicely now.

Mature, perfectly balanced. Although nose is rather tight this shows menthol and leather.
