  This did not seem to be corked but it certainly did not live up to expectation. Did I wait too long? Was this a bad vintage? Maybe a combination of the two? It was linear, missing balance and character. I am befuddled because I have always loved this wine. Let me know if you think you have an answer for me. Thanks.
  
  UPDATE: I later inspected the cork and could clearly see a large vein where wine made it all the way to the top of the cork. The wine was not discolored nor did it smell corked but it was. Very early stages I assume but enough to taint the wine. I am updating this to indicate that the wine was flawed and the rating cancelled.

  We always love this wine. We really had this as a pre-dinner wine but we had some left and drank some with our dinner of beef brisket. It actually held up with the brisket which surprised both of us. While I would still choose a red with dinner, it shows the versatility of this wine.
