  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Riesling
Drunk over 7 days from open bottle!!! Clear, lemon-golden color. Clean, medium intense, youthful-developing nose. Honey, yellow fruit (green apple, melon), some exotic fruit, a few notes of petrol, slight notes of acidity (VA). Not yet fully developed, but already very nice.
Sweet, very good balanced by the ripe, high acidity. Low alcohol, 8%abv. Creamy, mouthcoating and thick on the palate with aromas of yellow fruit, some herbs, some mineral notes, marzipan. Long finish, 60-90 seconds. Beautiful, but not very complex (yet). I guess it needs 10+ years of further development. It has a really great potential. 92+++ Very good PQR.
Update day 9: Today I tried a sip from a Syrah glass: Much more expressive nose and it gained complexity and depth. Now it comes close to 93-94++

  • 8% alcohol.

Deep, concentrated golden yellow color. Small bubbles start forming on the inside of the glass. The nose feels very sweet and quite dark-toned with intense aromas of ripe red apples, apple jam, some syrupy molasses, a little bit of beeswaxy character and a hint of peach candies. The wine is very sweet, full-bodied and really rich on the palate with sticky, almost unctuous mouthfeel and powerful, super-juicy flavors of molasses, overripe peach, dried apricots, fruit salad, some acacia honey, a little bit of golden raisin and a toasty hint of botrytis spice. The wine is medium-to-moderately high in acidity - perhaps the wine is even higher in acidity, but the high residual sugar overwhelms the acid structure? The finish is very rich, really long and quite sticky with intense flavors of acacia honey, golden raisins, some pineapple, a little bit of dried apricots and hints of molasses and maple syrup.

This is a super-rich and concentrated powerhouse feeling more unctuous than your run-of-the-mill TBA, let alone a Beerenauslese. The wine is starting to show the first signs of maturity now, at 10 years of age, but I suspect that this wine will continous to develop for ages. A remarkable wine, but still perhaps not worth its price at 60€ for a half bottle.
