Quick splash decant and oh so good. No heat to speak of, tannis integrated but still present. Absolutely delightful to drink. It’s a shame the current vintages cost 50% more.

No Notes. While over the past few years I have really dove deep into non-Bordeaux varietal wines, I still have a deep love for great Napa, and this is still one of them without question. Deep dark fruits, earth, tar, bitter chocolate beginning of some maturing notes yet powerful and gorgeous. Just a spectacular wine and exactly why I fell in love independently with Dr Crane, Momento Mori and Sam Kaplan.
Third amazing wine in a lineup celebrating and helping to cheer me up on my 65th birthday. This bottle was also memorable but unlike the 2014 Realm Houyi that kept evolving all night, this one peaked at about 3 hours and started to fade a bit after that -- so it suffered slightly in comparison. At its peak, was similar (but a touch darker in fruit and other flavors that the Houyi vineyard based Realm. Had great mouthfeel (typical 2016 talc-like minerality that I love), balance, energy and finish. The flavors started to fade by 4 hours (probably a 95 point wine by the end) -- rating reflects peak performance. Loved it!
Double decanted three hours before dinner. Deep purple core turning towards dark garnet at the rim. An extroverted and complex bouquet, with notes of creme de cassis, black currants, black cherry, and blueberry; hints of graphite, crushed stones, and bramble. Medium to full bodied, with a lush and velvety texture, layers of flavor, good precision and depth, and a long and incredibly focused finish. A hedonistic wine to be sure, but balanced and fresh. A wonderful expression of the vineyard, and will drink well for at least two decades. Bravo!

Dark fruit, not too hot, very well balanced. Stellar wine.
